About
Position
I am Assistant Professor in Public Finance (Profesor Ayudante Doctor) at the University of Málaga and accredited by ANECA as Associate Professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor).
Research agenda
My work sits at the intersection of three areas that are usually treated separately. I am particularly interested in the cases where they overlap.
- Fiscal policy and public debt sustainability. I study how fiscal consolidation episodes interact with debt dynamics in advanced economies, with a focus on the EU-27 and on the role of the interest-growth differential.
- Behavioural economics applied to public policy. I look at how heuristics, beliefs and information frictions shape household financial decisions and how these patterns matter for policy design.
- Data, methods and AI in economic research. I work in R, increasingly with AI-assisted pipelines, and explore how generative AI tools change both the speed and the scope of empirical economic research.
The connecting question is institutional. As advanced economies face simultaneously rising debt, ageing populations and the early stages of an AI-driven labour-market transition, the fiscal and behavioural foundations of public policy require revisiting. My research tries to contribute small, empirical pieces to that revision.
